There are scanners that do more, and kits that allow you to use a smartphone, PDA or computer. I decided to pick the Roadi instead, because I didn't want to find myself trying to deal with a computer, and all of the computer problems, while working on my car. Fixing a computer so I can fix a car sounded unappealing.
You get a basic book, a CD that I haven't felt compelled to use, the tool, and a rather attractive storage case.
You can read codes and reset codes.
It does both with a minimum of hassle and a clean user interface.
The book covers all of the generic codes, and, surprisingly, Chrysler's codes. I would have liked to see more manufacturer specific code coverage, but the internet is a good source of this information anyway.
I'd buy this again.

This product RDT40 Diagnostic Reader seems to work for all other cars but mine ( 2003 Toyota Corolla).I guess I'll just give it to my brother. Trying to get my money back and returning it is too complicated..I got referred to the company that makes it...called them... and then I had to wait for a service tech to call me back and he suggsted try it on another car.....which I did and it works on Jeeps and Fords but not on my car ...I'll just consider it a lesson learned. I won't buy another item like this on the internet again..

I purchased the RDT-40 to read the trouble codes on a 1999 Kia Sportage. It would not read them. It said it had diagnostic link errors. When I called the 800 number supplied in the user's manual, they said my car was not OBD-2 compliant and it was not the reader that was at fault. However, there is a Kia installed sticker in the engine compartment which states that the car is OBD-2 compliant. This tester is a cheap piece of junk. Don't waste your time.
